Everything you need to build a defensible pay structure

Five factors in, a robust grade out

Right now, roles get sized by precedent, gut feel, and whoever negotiated hardest at offer stage. A proper methodology means the next grading decision takes minutes, not multiple meetings.

The system's intelligent filtering keeps scoring consistent as you go, so two evaluators assessing the same role land in the same place

Every grade traces back to the factor scores behind it, so when someone asks 'why is this role a Level 6?', the answer is already written

Grading that reflects how your organisation actually works

"Why does she earn more than me?" "What gets me to the next level?" "On what basis was this graded?" With a defensible structure, these stop being Friday-ruining questions and start being two-minute answers.

FAQs

Is PAYgrade suitable for my organisation?
Plus Icon

We've worked with small, 100 employee associations as well as enterprise businesses with 1000s of employees. PAYgrade works no matter your size or industry.

Can I run it self-service without consultation attached?
Plus Icon

Yes. If you have job evaluation expertise in house, we set up your account and you're off. Most organisations start with a guided build where we help you create the structure, train you in the methodology, and anchor your senior roles (typically in around 90 days). Either way, the end state is the same: it's yours to run.

Do we need job evaluation expertise to use it?
Plus Icon

There are levels to it.

Scoring an individual role is relatively straightforward. If you know the job, the five plainly defined factors walk you through the grading process, and the engine does the calculating. No JE background needed and teams are typically scoring confidently within weeks of training.

Building a consistent structure itself, the grade boundaries, the anchor roles, and hierarchy that every score lands in, takes more skill and experience. And it's the part that determines whether the whole thing holds up later.

Once that structure is in place, the expertise is effectively built in. Your team scores new roles, handles restructures and keeps everything current without needing a reward specialist on staff or a consultant on call.

How is a grade actually decided?
Plus Icon

You score a role against five defined factors; the engine weights and places it in your structure. No interpretation step, no judgement call at the end. Every grade traces back to the evidence, which is what makes it defensible when challenged.

Who owns our data and evaluations?
Plus Icon

You do. Your structure, your scores, your evidence trail, exportable at any time. If you leave, it leaves with you.
